Welcome to Malvern Inns

In October 2010, David Roffe and Alastair Scott agreed to combine forces and create a small family of pubs and hotels. The result was Malvern Inns.


The stylish look and feel of a Malvern Inn is the result of significant but sensitive refurbishment and continued investment. Central to each of the venues is the work of our team - hardworking professionals offering delicious food, a great selection of drinks and special stays. 


Under the banner of Malvern Events, we also provide a wide range of party and event management services throughout Yorkshire and beyond.



The George can be found in the North Somerset village of Backwell, a 15 minute drive from Bristol City Centre. 


The inn has a stylish interior, seven individually designed en suite bedrooms and a large courtyard garden. It is a special village pub for people living in the local area and  an ideal stop-over for those travelling to and from the South West. 

Expect a very warm welcome from General Manager Antony and his team. 


Four miles from Harrogate sits a large outcrop of Millstone Grit called Almscliffe Crag. Brilliant for clambering and enjoying far-reaching views, it is also only half a mile from The Square & Compass, our lovely pub in the pretty village of North Rigton. 

A large terrace, stunning bar and relaxed restaurant, make The Square & Compass a highly regarded and much loved destination.

Front of House Manager Simon and his team are always at the ready with a welcoming smile and attentive service.

You will find the second of our Yorkshire pubs at the heart of the historic village of Spofforth, five miles south east of Harrogate.


Twelve en suite bedrooms (all named after different castles), flexible dining spaces and a large garden make this a perfect place to catch up with loved-ones or colleagues.


Expect to be made very welcome by our Front of House Manager Matt and his team. 

Join Our Team

Alastair and David continue to be involved in the strategic development of Malvern Inns.


Day to day management of our Front of House, Kitchen and Housekeeping teams is delegated to our highly experienced
General Managers Paul Stephenson and Antony Woodcock.


Director of Events Tom Marshall is the lead manager responsible for Malvern Events.
